Greetings, Parents of Winter Guard Members!
The Warren Blue Devil JV and Winter Guard members have been busy learning their shows. In a few weeks, we'll enter our first competition. Here's some information about the season -- Teaching Staff: Director/Design Consultant: Mr. Chris Jenkins ([email protected]) Varsity Choreographer: Ms. Jeanette Krier JV Choreographer: Ms. Toni Markowicz Rehearsals: Mondays: 4-6 for Varsity and 6-8 for JV at Almond Thursdays: 6-9 for both Varsity and JV at Almond Occasional additional rehearsals as needed – members should check Facebook page for updates Our Contest Schedule: Sat, February 3 – Hersey HS, Arlington Heights Sat, March 10 - Lake Park HS West Campus, Roselle Sun, March 18 – Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg Sun, March 25 - Maine South HS, Park Ridge Sat, April 7 & Sun, April 8 - Championships LaPorte HS (Varsity only), LaPorte, IN The Midwest Color Guard Circuit has been around for 57 years! Check out the MCGC website for schedules, directions, etc. www.midwestcolorguard.com How are we judged? 6 Judges 1 – 20 – Individual Analysis Equipment (10 – Vocabulary, 10 – Excellence) – Lower Stands 2 – 20 – Individual Analysis Movement (10 – Vocabulary, 10 – Excellence) – Lower Stands 3 – 20 – Design (10 – Composition, 10- Excellence) – Upper Stands 4 & 5 – General Effect (10 – Composition, 10 – Excellence) – Upper Stands 6 – Timing and Penalties - On the floor Total score: 100 points What do the classes mean? “SRA” class = “Scholastic Regional A” class, the entry-level high school class. Our JV competes in SRA. “SAA” = “Scholastic AA” class, the intermediate-level high school class. This is the class our Varsity competes in. Teams may be bumped up to a higher class of competition based on their performance. “SA” = “Scholastic A” class, is generally for more competitive high school guards, most of whom compete outside of the Midwest and at WGI (Winter Guard International) Championship in Dayton, Ohio, along with a heavy practice schedule. “SO” = “Scholastic Open” class, for highly skilled guards who have more experienced members, larger staffs, larger budgets; they travel outside of the Midwest to compete in several WGI Regionals and the WGI Championships. At MCGC Championships, teams will be seeded by class into the championship competition. Varsity will compete in preliminary competition on Saturday, April 7 (lower scores at the beginning of the class for the preliminary contest and highest scores performing at the end of the class). The Championship Finals on Sunday, April 8 will be in the order of preliminary competition scores. How can parents get involved?
