WTHS Winter Guard TeamsOur Winter Guards compete in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit (MWCGC). The Midwest Circuit is one of the oldest color guard organizations in the nation and world, entering its 57th consecutive season of competition. MWCGC allows performers of all ages to compete, so at most contest spectators can see performers of all ages, from elementary age students who then move up to the largest class, the high school class, to independent guards (not associated with one particular school or district), and even “senior” guards (over 22 years old).
The Warren JV Winter Guard competes in the “SRA” class which stands for “Scholastic Regional A” class, the entry-level high school class. The Varsity Winter Guard competes in the “SA” class which is the top-level high school class. After several regional competitions, member units compete at the Midwest Color Guard Championships which are held in LaPorte, Indiana. Information about the circuit and may be accessed here-- http://www.midwestcolorguard.com/ The circuit’s complete contest schedule can be accessed here – The Midwest Circuit aligns itself with Winter Guard International (WGI), and many of the MWCGC member units compete in WGI Regionals and/or WGI Championships at the conclusion of the Midwest season. WGI was “born” in the spring of 1977, with just 29 units in one class. Tremendous rapid growth through the last 40 years has resulted in 7 classes of competition which serve hundreds of color guards and tens of thousands of performers each year, not only in the US, but also several other countries. Information about WGI can be accessed here -- http://www.wgi.org/ Mr. Jenkins – Director, Business Mgr., Design Consultant Mrs. Johnson – Show Design, Choreography |
